About Us
our story
Focus on Women was founded by Traci Terrick, owner of Poppy Creative Agency, Juliette Wolf Robin, Executive Director of the APA and Mary Dail, Founder of Big Leo Productions. For some time, Traci had been thinking about starting a group for women in the creative industry. She wanted a place where women could come together to network, discuss challenges they face in the industry, support one another and share ideas and insights. As this idea was taking shape, the 2018 PhotoPlus conference in NYC was on the horizon. Traci seized this opportunity and starting planning a party in NYC during he conference. To make the most of this event, she approached Juliette and Mary about co-hosting this event. Both women were excited to join forces on this event and start spreading the word. As the team began to brainstorm about the event and what the theme should be, it became clear that this was the perfect time to focus on women in photography. This marked the beginning of Focus on Women.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to elevate and empower female identifying professionals in the commercial photography industry. From producers, creative directors and photographers to agents, stylists and hair and makeup artists, we want women to have a seat at the table. By creating a comprehensive directory of female creatives and empowering them with valuable resources and access, we hope to expand their communities. Additionally we’ll offer education, networking and mentorship opportunities.
Volunteer
Be a part of our community by volunteering. We need help with website maintenance, instagram feed, spaces to host our events and workshops in, brainstorming with other members on ways to improve, etc. Besides that we would love to keep you in the loop on what is new and exciting with our organization. Thanks!
